🔌 Electrical Safety and Electric Shocks
Fascinated by tiny holes and anything new, young kids will naturally try to poke their little fingers or metal objects right into power sockets.
Dad hack
- Get down on all fours and crawl around the living room at kid height: you’ll instantly spot exposed wires, loose cables, or tempting sockets.
Key reflexes
1. Power outlets
Install tamper-resistant sockets or clip-on childproof outlet covers.
2. Extension cords & cables
Never leave an extension lead plugged in with nothing attached to it, and don't overload power strips.
3. Electrical appliances
Unplug and put away hairdryers, irons, or kitchen blenders immediately after use.
4. Water + electricity
Keep any plugged-in devices well clear of water sources (sinks, bathtubs).
