💬 Boosting Language Skills with Constant Chatter

Even if he doesn't understand the words yet, your baby is soaking up intonations, sentence flow, and speech rhythms from day one. Chatting with your little one is the ultimate engine for his brain development.

What you'll need

  • Soft cloth or chunky board books.
  • Zero special gear required—just your voice.

The Game Plan

  1. 1. Narrate your day like a sports commentator

Describe what you're doing out loud ("Time for the blue pants," "Dad's prepping your bottle").

  2. 2. Hit pause (The art of turn-taking)

After talking to baby, shut up for a few seconds and look at him. Give him time to "reply" with a coo, a gurgle, or a wiggle.

  3. 3. Name the big feelings

Put words to what he's going through ("You're worn out, mate," "Look at that big smile, someone's happy").

Classic mistakes

  • ❌ Speaking strictly in baby talk A bit of goofy baby babble is natural, but make sure you mix in real words to help build his actual vocabulary.
  • ❌ Leaving background noise on 24/7 Keeping the TV or radio blaring constantly drowns out your voice and messes with his ability to focus on speech sounds.
